I am planning on starting the New York Diet next Monday after going to a wine class on Sat. night and throwing a Super Bowl party at our house. That day of indulgence should be a good way to start David Kirsch's diet.
Here are his rules for Phase 1
A-no alcohol- OH MY GAWD
B-no bread
C-no coffee- I will not even attempt this rule
D-no diary
E-no extra sweets
F-no fruit or extra fat
No eating after 7 pm. Eat every 3 hours the rest of the day. 14 days of Phase 1.
Phase 2 adds some carbs back in plus a cheat day. His tips regarding drinking are good. A glass of water for every drink you have plus lean towards choosing wine, lite beers, or cocktails without mixers or only water or club soda. His whole book sounds very much like the South Beach Diet with perhaps a few changes. I have enjoyed reading his long-term guides for maintaining weight loss. I would recommend the book.
